Johannesburg home filled with family treasures

To break up some of the large expanses of plastered and painted walls, Carla left certain sections of raw brickwork exposed. This adds warmth, texture and, together with the coloured concrete floors, gives the living areas a modern, almost industrial edge. She furnished it with an eclectic mix of family pieces like the Dutch cupboard and new furniture with a contemporary look.
