A traditional horticultural garden in the Pustertal in Italy

Growing vegetables along with flowers has never been more in. Michele Obama has even planted veggies in the White House rose garden. But the tradition is as old as the hills of South Tirol where women tended the lovely mountain gardens. The flowers were destined for the church, the vegetables for the table and the fragrant herbs were grown for the family pharmacy
