The border between Slovenia and Italy divides this charming garden in Gorizia.

When European borders shifted after World War Two Marinka’s family estate was cut in two and an iron curtain was drawn through her garden. Now it still spans two nations but Marinka has created a unified design based on an English country garden. Inspired by a trip to England in the 1990s she started importing David Austin roses and plants for her herbaceous border.
